How PUBG Addiction Cause you Depression and the Solution?

How PUBG Addiction Cause you Depression and the Solution?

Awesome One…PUBG Addiction is becoming a reason behind many people’s depression.

So, you are not alone.

Recently, I have talked with a person whose kid is in depression and need some urgent help.

After talking with his teen boy, I found out that the major cause behind his depression is his PUBG Addiction.

This boy is playing PUBG like crazy and not doing anything else, which is affecting his studies.

His parents got worried and took some drastic steps to stop their child from playing PUBG such as…

They put a password on his computer, closed the WiFi Connection, taken away his phone and told their kid- in an angry tone- to never play PUBG again and focus on studies.

Eventually, these actions backfired and the kid instead of focusing on studies, start feeling depressed and then get into depression.

In this case, both- parents and the boy- are responsible for the situation.

The boy is responsible as he made himself addicted to PUBG.

The boy’s parents are also responsible as instead of understanding their child and helping him in defeating his addiction, they punish him.

Now, after my guidance, this boy is doing pretty good and he will be completely out of depression in the next 10-20 days.

There are many people like you and this boy who are facing depression due to their PUBG Addiction.

So, you don’t have to judge yourself.

Before telling you about the techniques and methods, you can use to get rid of PUBG Addiction…

Let me tell you “How PUBG Addiction causes you depression? ” so that you can understand your situation in a better way.

How PUBG Addiction causes you Depression

Like any other addiction, when you don’t get the thing, you are addicted to, you can feel many negative feelings such as sadness, anger, irritation, loneliness, and hopelessness but…

If you don’t take steps to get rid of your addiction, you can put yourself in a Negativity Loop.

Here is a Figure of PUBG Addiction Negativity loop:

PUBG Addiction Negativity loop and depression
PUBG Negativity Loop

After this initial phase, If you still don’t put the required efforts to get rid of your PUBG Addiction and keep spending your time in this Negativity loop…

You will go into depression in 10-30 days.

Solution

Now, lets about the techniques and methods you can use to defeat your PUBG Addiction and these methods work with any kind of addiction.

In my life so far, I have also faced many addictions.

I was addicted to many things- such as cigarettes, hash, and masturbation.

I had also faced the addiction of Playing Call of Duty Black Ops 2( an FPS Multiplayer Game) but…

Sooner or later, I defeated each of my addiction using the methods that I’m going to explain to you right now.

The DAR Technique

One way to get rid of your PUBG addiction is by completely stop playing PUBG, don’t succumb to your urge to play PUBG, and focus on doing other things in your life.

Although this method is effective, it is more stringent and require extreme determination and discipline from your side.

Also, this method can backfire on you if not implemented in the right way.

A better method is to decrease your PUBG playtime- day by day- and replace this time with some other rewarding activity.

I call this the DAR (Decrease and Replace) Technique.

Awesome One…You are addicted or extremely dependent on PUBG as your mind’s reward system rewards you when you play PUBG.

Not only you experience positive thoughts and feelings when you play PUBG, but your brain also releases good mood chemicals inside you such as Dopamine and Serotonin.

So, cutting off this reward completely can make things much more difficult for you.

Therefore, instead of completely depriving yourself of the reward- you are getting by playing PUBG- you need to cut down your PUBG Playtime- day by day.

Then, you need to replace your decreased PUBG Playtime with other rewarding activities.

For Example: If you are playing PUBG for 8 hours every day, you need to decrease this time by 1 hour( you can also do 1/2 hour)- day by day.

In this way, you have to play PUBG for 7 hours (or 7 and a half hours) tomorrow.

Then, you need to do some other rewarding activity in this 1 or 1/2 hour.

If you don’t have any constructive activities which provide you reward, you need to find those rewarding activities.

These rewarding activities can be anything such as playing some kind of sport, exercise, meditation, reading, writing, cooking, watching a movie, starting a Blog or YouTube Channel.

It can be learning something such as painting, dancing, music production, coding, music instrument, video editing, psychology, and marketing.

There are an infinite number of activities you can perform and believe me, if you do different kinds of activities, you will definitely find some constructive rewarding activities for yourself.

In my case, these rewarding activities were learning psychology, listening to music, writing, reading, helping people, and starting my own Blog and YouTube Channel.

Control your Urges

During implementing the decrease and replace method…

Many times, you will get an urge to play PUBG but rather than succumbing to those urges, you have to triumph over them.

Instead of letting your urge to control you, you have to control your urge.

If you let your urge to win each and every time, you will never defeat your PUBG Addiction and depression.

You have to show some determination, willpower, and commitment.

You have to Feel Uncomfortable

In your fight against PUBG Addiction and depression, you will face uncomfortable many times and that is the reason many people never defeat their PUBG addiction.

People are ready to spend time and money to get rid of their PUBG addiction but they want an easy way.

Some people even buy capsules to get rid of their addiction and in the process become addicted to those capsules too.

Awesome One… there is no magic pill available to get rid of PUBG Addiction and depression.

If you want to defeat PUBG addiction, you have to feel uncomfortable again and again during the whole process.

It is up to you, whether you use those uncomfortable moments to bring yourself up or down.

You will feel uncomfortable when you would do other activities rather than playing PUBG but instead of letting those uncomfortable moments to bring you down…

You need to focus on doing other activities and go through those uncomfortable moments.

Remember, It is not easy to defeat PUBG Addiction and depression but anything worthy never comes easily.

You have to face and go through those difficult and uncomfortable moments.

So, instead of avoiding or succumbing to uncomfortable moments, face and go through them; You will become Stronger.

If I tell you this thing through the Psychological lens, your mind doesn’t want to do difficult or uncomfortable things.

Your brain doesn’t want to feel uncomfortable.

He will tell you to not feel uncomfortable and just play PUBG in your decreased PUBG Playtime but you need to give your mind orders, instead of taking orders from him.

Order your brain that you don’t want to play PUBG and you want to face and go through these uncomfortable situations.

Either you control your mind or your mind will control you.

Feel Sad Today to Feel Happy Later

This technique is just great and very helpful in your fight against PUBG Addiction and Depression.

This method is also very effective to get over your urges and those uncomfortable moments.

Thing is, you would feel happy if you play PUBG in your decreased PUBG Playtime but you will feel sad and guilty later.

On the other hand, you would feel sad/ uncomfortable when you don’t play PUBG, but you will feel happy later.

You will feel awesome when you finally defeat your PUBG addiction; It would be a great achievement for you.

So, feel sad/ uncomfortable and go through those difficult moments today to feel awesome later.

The 10/2 Rule

Decreasing your PUBG Playtime from 8 hours to 1 hour is one thing but…

Taking it from 1 to zero is another, as now, you are completely shutting down the reward which you are getting by playing PUBG.

So, what to do?

You can use the 10/2 Rule which I have created during my fight with hash addiction.

As per this rule, for every 10 days, you have to decrease your 1 Hour PUBG Playtime by 2 days.

For Example: After bringing your PUBG Playtime to 1 Hour , you have to play PUBG for at most 8 hours in the next 10 days, then at most 6 hours in the next 10 days and so on.

Remember, these 8 or 6 hours are scattered over 8 or 6 days. You can only play PUBG for a maximum of 1 hour in one day.

By following this method, after 40 days, you will be left with at most 2 hours in the next 10 days.

After this, it wouldn’t be much difficult to get rid of these last 2 hours.

You can play for 2 hours in 10 days, then for 1 hour in the next 10 days and finally zero.

This method works very well as you are decreasing the reward you are getting by playing PUBG- for 1 hour- slowly and slowly but…

For the success of this method and the above mentioned DAR Method, it is indispensable that you find and create some other rewarding constructive activities.

Never Give Up

You will face difficulties and obstacles in your fight against PUBG Addiction.

You may succumb to your urge to play PUBG sometimes.

Somedays, you may play PUBG for straight 10 hours.

You may face failure but you just don’t need to give up.

Remember, triumph over your urges, go through those uncomfortable moments, find a way around the obstacles and learn from your failure.

Even if you find yourself at the bottom once again, bounce back but never ever give up.

Keep on trying and trying until you achieve what you want to achieve.

Important Questions

What activities do I need to avoid?

There are certain activities which you should avoid so that you can get rid of your PUBG Addiction in less time.

Below is the list of activities which you should avoid- doing- in your decreased PUBG Playtime:

-Don’t watch the video of streamers playing PUBG on YouTube or Twitch.

-Avoid playing any other game to avoid another game’s addiction.

-Never indulge in taking drugs to escape reality as you can become a drug addict.

-If your friend is forcing you to play PUBG, don’t say YES. Tell him or her that you are busy with some other activity.

-Avoid using your phone as it can create an intense urge to click the PUBG icon and play it.

Also, if your current PUBG playtime is 4 hours, then play it for that much time only.

Don’t start another game if you lose a game at the end of 4 hours.

Note for parents: Don’t call your child an addict. Instead, understand his or her situation and help him in defeating PUBG Addiction and depression.

Don’t judge your child and create a rapport with him or her instead of rebuking.

Can I play PUBG after defeating its addiction?

Yes, you can!

I also play video games almost every day but the important thing is to keep a check on your playtime so that you don’t become its addict.

Playing Video games is a good recreational activity with many benefits such as improvement in focus, and a decrease in reaction time.

Some games such as dark souls are helpful in developing patience and learn from your failures kind of attitude.

So, play PUBG but be wary that you can also live without it.

I play video games almost every day but I can live without them for straight 30 days.

Use your day to achieve your life goals and if you get surplus time, you can play PUBG as a source of entertainment for some time- like 3 or 4 games.
